Bulldogs Sweep Lions Baseball

first_imgThe Batesville Bulldogs captured the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over Rushville on Thursday. The game was tied at one with the Bulldogs batting in the top of the sixth when Drew Kiefer’s sac fly scored one run for Bulldogs.The pitching was strong on both sides. Sam Voegele struck out 11 and walked zero, while Tyler Wilson sat down six.The Bulldogs got things moving in the first inning, as they scored one run when Kiefer singled. The lead did not last long. In the bottom of the second inning, Rushville tied things up at one when Jacob Ray hit a solo home run.Voegele was the winning pitcher for Batesville. He allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking zero.Wilson took the loss for Rushville. He surrendered three runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out six.Trey Heidlage led the Bulldogs with two hits in three at bats. Batesville didn’t commit a single error in the field. Caleb Raab had 13 chances in the field, the most on the team.The Bulldogs’ third win in a row takes them to 12-10 on the season and 5-7 in the EIAC. Batesville will try to continue their winning streak against Jac Cen Del on Saturday.Courtesy of Bulldogs Coach Justin Tucker.The Batesville Bulldogs JV Baseball team won their 8th game in a row and brought their overall record to 10-3 when they beat Rushville by a score of 23-7.The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in the first inning getting a two out three run home run by Adam Cox. Adam finished the game 3-4 with 6 RBI’s. Lleyton Ratcliffe had a three run homer of his own in the 4th inning. Alex Smith added a three run round tripper in the seventh inning. All in all the Bulldogs had 13 hits, 15 walks, and 11 stolen bases 4 of them came from Brayden Linkel.Riley Zink started on the mound and pitched three innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits striking out 8 batters and earned the win.
